Heads down
concentrating
on their
palm
holding
the screen
below
missing
the smiles
the frowns
the nods
–
quickly
feet
pitter- patter
down the hall
faster
thoughts spinning
into a web
creating
endless lists
of
tasks
yet to complete
conversations
to initiate
browsing
fingers clicking
chatting
to others
across the town
over the ocean
far
far
away
–
Ignoring
those smiles
those nods
those salutations
face-to-face
in the moment
the very present
passing you by
missed opportunities
lost interactions
never repeated
lost
forever.
Yes, sometimes when I haven’t had the best of days I like to purposely stop in their path and wait for them to bump right into me and then shake my head at them. Somehow it makes me feel better 😀
I hope they don’t walk into a pole, wait, maybe I do hope they walk into a pole. Then maybe they will look up and see the world beyond the Internet or texting.
It is how I feel everyone in Hong Kong moves in the city. They are always looking at their phone as they walk down the hall or the street, missing so many interactions and smiles and moments.
definitely felt the fast pace!
hmmm…leaving me guessing…
