Minute
by minute
time ticks on
never stopping
or pausing it moves
seemingly quicker each day
one moment racing to the next
fast-forwarding through the challenges
wishing for the evenings, the weekends, the holidays,
the summer, the cooler days, the drier months, hurrying always
forcing the sand through the neck of the fragile hourglass of time until
….
until what? What are we racing for? Why is life a competition?
Why are we rushing through our daily routines?
With blinders on we forget to notice
appreciate and enjoy
each moment
each day
until
the
end
Love the shape poem! At first, I wondered about your line breaks, but then I realized it made an hourglass. Very cool! And yes, you are so right about time. Sometimes it crawls and other times it flies by!
Thanks Elsie and Strasskt!
Love it! It’s so important to slow down, and it’s been a major change in my life recently to do so. Thank you for expressing it so beautifully.
Now that is a cool poem! So much to love! The tempo of the reader, the line placement, that clever visual craft of the lines, and then there is the message. Like I said, so much to love and envy (your talent with words). 🙂
