Where did 3 go?

Slice of Life Day 12

I am participating in the twowritingteacher.org Slice of Life Challenge where I write each day for the month of March. This year my three-year old daughter and I are writing collaboratively. Feel free to follow along our month-long writing journey!

Yesterday was a big day! Marlowe turned 4 and it just seems so significant to me. 3 is little but 4, that seems big!

We reflected on being 4 today and I just love the things she shared.

How simple life is as a 4 year old.

There is a lot of stress and worry spinning quickly around the world right now. Spending time talking to a young person, really brings you back to the simplicity of life.

On the day you were born with your fluffy duck hair until now

It seems like just yesterday that you were this size

5 pounds of perfection

Yet, I can’t imagine what life would be like without you

You have made this world a happier, funnier place!

To understand Marlowe’s amazing sense of humor, I feel that I need to share this little story from her birthday….

As you can see, we went to McDonald’s for dinner. Despite making a million suggestions, Marlowe was adamant that we were going to McDonald’s. Our friend thought it would be funny to take a classy family portrait in front of the McDonald’s. As we were laughing about it and getting ready to take a picture, Marlowe begins to laugh too. Through her laughter she says “Let’s take it with the garbage can!” and so we did and could not contain our laughter. This 4 year old truly gets humor!

  1. As an ex prek teacher, I can tell you absolutely that 4 is my favorite age. I think who we are at 4 is our most essential self – so take lots of notes!
