Slice of Life Day 15
I am participating in the twowritingteacher.org Slice of Life Challenge where I write each day for the month of March. This year my three-year old daughter (now 4 year-old) and I are writing collaboratively. Feel free to follow along our month-long writing journey!
*Today we found out our schools and daycares were shutting down but teachers still had to report to work on Monday. Needless to say it has been a stressful day trying to figure out what we can do with our daughter when we don’t have any family nearby. Please excuse my post being a little bit late and without Marlowe writing. She wrote today but I haven’t had time to capture it on here. I felt more in the mood for a poem*
Year to year
things change
–
Sometimes
month to month
–
When it becomes
week to week
it is overwhelming
–
Lately
day to day
–
Today
minute to minute
–
If overwhelming is taken
then what word do we use?
inundated?
swamped?
drowning?
All I can do is…
BREATHE
I can feel how tense you are because I feel that way too. I called an ice cream shop Isabelle asked my mom to take her to. When I asked if they were open for sit-down customers, she said, “for the moment.” Literally, an hour later our Governor announced that he was shutting down all non-essential businesses. So, I get it. Things are changing rapidly.
I’m sorry you have to go in and find care for Marlowe so quickly. I cannot even imagine!
* I cannot even imagine how stressful that must have been living so far away from family.
Thanks for your kind words Stacey! As soon as we figured out a plan in the morning, Marlowe immediately threw up! haha! I wished she threw up last night before I frantically figured everything out! So it made the decision easy, my husband and I each took a half day to be with her! Funny how everything happens at the same time. We just have to find the humour in it to get through!
Working parents always have a rough time with school closures. I can imagine how stressful might be now. Sending love, health and peace of mind from Central Oregon.
Thank you, Pia!
Oh Shags!! I hear ya…sorry it’s rough friend. Sending you a big ole hug from Jakarta! Love you!!!
